POST Cereals moving headquarters to Lakeville
The Pioneer Press reports this afternoon that Post Holdings Inc. will move it’s growing cereal division headquarters to Lakeville – the headquarters of MOM Brands, who Post purchased earlier this year for $1.15 billion. The decision marks a big expansion for Lakeville, but a loss at Post’s offices in New Jersey, which Post intends to close. Post said the move would “impact approximately 200 employees across the business.” Post is the No. 3 cerealmaker in the United States, after Kellogg and Golden Valley-based General Mills. MOM Brands had been No. 4. Lakeville officials were delighted — and relieved. MOM Brands had 250 office workers in the community, and the city worried those jobs might leave after the company was acquired. Lakeville offered unspecified incentives to keep those jobs here. As for the prospect of new jobs, officials weren’t making any forecasts but that’s the hope. As for Northfield’s plant, one can only speculate that that’s good news.
