The couple calling themselves “Bonnie and Clyde” sentenced
An Apple Valley woman and a Farmington man, convicted of the ill-fated robbery of Northfield’s America’s Best Value Inn last Fall, have been sentenced in Federal court. 23 year old Julie Ann Campana pleaded guilty to driving the getaway car when 27 year old Eric Wade Forcier used a gun to rob the night clerk at the hotel last October. Campana was caught by police on Hwy 3 while Forcier jumped out of the vehicle, firing his weapon at an officer which led to a massive manhunt that ended near Perkins Transport. He was found hiding in the back of a pickup truck. Forcier admitted to 4 other robberies in Apple Valley, Bloomington and Inver Grove Heights. He was already a convicted felon at the time of the Northfield robbery. Yesterday afternoon, Campana received 36 months in prison. Forcier was sentenced last week to 240 months or 20 years in federal prison.

The Fire Service study group or task force updated council on shared services. They intend on presenting their recommendation in September. Mayor Graham said he’s been frustrated with how long it’s taken. Initially the group thought they would have some decisions by March. It’s clear the group is divided. Graham says the governance model is most frustrating for him. His concern is what’s best for the citizens of Northfield while not neglecting rural. The task force was looking for feedback. Graham said the bottom line is that Northfield’s the big player and should have the most say. Graham says they have to talk about a model that can last for 20 years or more.
