Starting tomorrow law enforcement all over the State will kick off a 10 day enforcement campaign aimed at distracted driving. The Northfield Police department will be participating as they did 2 weeks ago when they focused on seatbelt usage. Leading up to it, the Northfield High School has been participating in the AT&T “It Can Wait” texting campaign. This is a public education program aimed at spreading the word about how deadly a simple text can be. One of the students, Jessica McKeever along with the Cheerleading Squad have partnered with School Resources Officer Angela Borchardt and the TZD Safe Roads Coalition to continue their efforts. They’ve been educating students all week. They took the pledge to never text while driving and are inviting the public to do the same in a friendly competition between Juniors and Seniors. TEXT TO: 464329
MESSAGE: ICW1106 (to credit JUNIORS)
ICW1155 (to credit SENIORS)
The pledge campaign ends tomorrow at noon. According to Public Safety, 25% of all crashes are due to distracted driving.
