Another arrest in meth bust

A Dundas man recently jailed for having over 23 grams of methamphetamine has company.  His female companion on the scene of his arrest at the Days Inn in Faribault just over a week ago was charged Friday afternoon.  Police were called to the Days Inn after management smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of their rooms.  20 year old Cody Jonathon Luiken and 21 year old Ashley Marie Riehm-Carlson were found in the room, which smelled of marijuana.  Officers found 41 grams of marijuana as well as the meth after a thorough search of Luiken and the room.  According to Carlson’s criminal complaint, Luiken received a phone call in jail from Carlson who said she would claim some of the meth as it wasn’t all his.  Later, Luiken told a visitor that the meth wasn’t all his and that he was trying to grab it up to flush it down the toilet but Ashley opened the door too quick.   In another phone call she told Luiken, you have no idea how many times people keep thinking that I set you up.  Carlson’s been charged with possession of more than 10 grams of methamphetamine with intent to sell which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and/or a million dollar fine.  She’s also been charged with aiding and abetting 2nd degree burglary in another criminal complaint.  This isn’t her first time through the court system either.  Along with the drugs, officers found a scale, needles, pipes and some cash.  Luiken was charged with 2nd degree possession with a sentence of no less than 3 years up to 40 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $500,000.  His next court appearance is January 17th.   Carlson awaits her 1st court appearance.
